🎉 Congratulations to this exciting news! Supported by ESA's InCubed program, NEO is developing an advanced hyperspectral imaging system for satellite-based detection and quantification of methane emissions. #remotesensing #methane #hyperspectral
Advancing the world of environmental monitoring! Norsk Elektro Optikk AS has signed a contract with European Space Agency - ESA for the development of an advanced hyperspectral imaging system for satellite-based methane detection. This initiative, supported by ESA's InCubed program, aims to enhance global monitoring of methane emissions from space. 💬 Ole Bjørn Eithun Pedersen, who will be managing the project, said the following: "Using our existing HySpex SWIR cameras we have already proven that we can accurately identify methane emissions remotely. Now, building on our proven systems, we are developing a new and highly sensitive satellite camera optimized specifically for methane detection and quantification. Allowing for more accurate and reliable identification of methane emissions on a large scale." 👇 Link to the full story in the comments below 👇
